Scotland Independence Ref 2
Good news for the Scottish independence movement. The Conservatives have confirmed an SNP (Scottish National Party) victory on May 6th will guarantee a referendum, and a path for Scotland to free itself of English Tory rule and back into the European Union.

so can Scotland actually afford to be self sufficient? or would it go bankrupt?

i've read a few different takes on it - which is the truth?

Why mention "Tory" rule?

Will the Scotts apply to re join the UK, next time Labour are in power?

I still believe that the people of England (& Wales & NI) should also have a vote in any referendum initiated by a member to break up the Union.
Or at least give the people of England an independence vote.

That’s David Moyes plan to merge Rangers and Celtic into the Premier League down the pan.

What’s that, 7 or 8 years since the last one. I’d be livid if I had voted stay.

Does this mean there could be another European vote in 2023?

It’s pathetic and I don’t even really care either way

I stilll cant see much difference between IndyRef and Brexit

- Based on xenophobia
- Backed up by sketchy financial data

The weird thing is, the people I know who are massive anti brexit, seems to be all in favour of indyref, which just seems very odd to me.

The natural consequence of becoming independent of a larger power base a long way away that you can blame for your problems on is that in the end you end up wanting your village to be independent and then your modest semi detached home down the urban sprawl on the end cul-de-sac.

The difference between Brexit and Jockxit is that the UK had centuries of experience of self governance except for the last 50 odd years within the EU.

The Jocks haven't got a fucking clue about anything, no independent infrastructure, they refuse to put any numbers together to justify Jockxit, and have just been told by RBS that they will leave Scotland and that will presumably be the same for any other worthwhile financial services companies.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love Jockxit. They aren't solvent and I can't see how anything will change that. I'd also love the EU to have to start paying the Jock bill we have to pay every year.

If a majority of the Scottish electorate want another independence vote the Westminster government will have an obligation to go along with it.

To suppress things will play into the hands of the Scottish nationalists.

They had their vote a few years back.

It's done.

However I for one would love to see them fuck off.

Give them independence, then invade them

I can't see the EU wanting them back in the bloc. It's just another mouth to feed.

EU would say no because it would open a whole can of worms that Spain for one wouldn’t want to deal with.

I’d love to see them go.

Dandy Lyon makes a very good point.

Although I would love to be free of the financial burden of the ungrateful, freeloading fucks, the last referendum was supposed to settle the question for at least a generation.

Also, who is going to pay for the referendum? English tax payers, naturally, given that the Scots spend more than they earn. And we won't get a vote!

twoleftfeet and Russ

What makes you think that the EU would let Spain get in the way of whatever the fuck France and Germany want?

Its worth reminding the northern britishers of a few points

1) The shetlands have made clear that in the event of scotchland leaving the union, they will immediately vote to leave Scotchland.

2) More Scotchish voted to leave the EU than voted for the Stotch Nazi party

3) Scotchland has a smaller population than Yorkshire and a far inferior cuisine and climate.

I'd ignore it, comma is a Briton, he doesn't identify as English. He's amongst the potatoes now.
